This qualification is aimed at aspiring marketers who want to gain knowledge and skills to progress a successful career in marketing. It is ideal for Marketing executives, or equivalent, who have had experience in the industry and are looking to advance their career. This qualification will equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to perform at an operational level and carry out an essential and successful professional marketing role with the workplace.

The qualification’s flexible structure has been designed to meet the needs of today’s professional marketer. Each module can be achieved as a distinct, self-contained award or combined into the full qualification comprising of three mandatory modules. To achieve the qualification, a pass in BOTH mandatory modules is required and ONE elective is required. As Marketing Tom only delivers Digital qualifications, the elective module is Digital Marketing Techniques. Students can start the qualification with any of 3 modules.

Applied Marketing (mandatory) – In this module, you will learn about the role of marketing in the organisation and the key concepts that underpin the activities of the marketer.
Planning Campaigns (mandatory) – This module gives you the knowledge and skills to plan and implement successful campaigns that deliver real results for an organisation.
Digital Marketing Techniques (elective) – This module focuses on the importance of the ever-evolving, dynamic digital landscape. You will develop skills to improve digital marketing performance and explore the challenges and opportunities within the digital environment.
Each module in its own right, once completed, gives the marketers a distinct, self-contained award which can be built up to attain the full Certificate.
Who is the CIM Professional Certificate aimed at?
The CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing is aimed at the aspiring professional marketer who wishes to gain knowledge and skills to succeed and progress with a career in marketing. Ideal for those working in marketing support roles (e.g. marketing assistants) or whose current job encompasses elements of marketing.
You’ll need to have a minimum of one year’s experience in the industry or a relevant level 3 qualification to study the Certificate in Professional Marketing or Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. Also, if you have studied at one of CIM’s Graduate Gateway Universities you will have gained exemptions from our CIM qualifications, meaning you will only need to complete one module instead of the usual three for the Certificate in Professional Marketing/Digital Marketing. If English is not your first language, you will also need to provide evidence of achieving one of the following English Language qualifications within the last two years: IELTS Academic Module with overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.
How is the CIM course assessed?
We use a combination of methods to assess the Foundation Certificate in Marketing. For the Marketing Principles module, there will be an external assessment consisting of a 90-minute online test, in which you answer 50 multiple-choice questions. In the Customer Communications module, the external assessment is a seven page assignment scenario based on a given and organisation of your choice.
Assessment methods used within the qualification are employer-driven, practitioner-based, relevant and appropriate for business needs. In addition, assessments for all qualifications comply with regulatory requirements, are fit for purpose, fair, valid, reliable and manageable to ensure confidence in the standard of learner achievement.
How much does the qualification cost?
Our qualifications and bite-size awards represent a sound investment in your future and your employer may therefore be willing to sponsor you.
The full cost is £1500 +VAT; if you’re paying for 1 module the cost is £550 +VAT (payable to the Study Centre). The full cost price also includes a complimentary 1-day Google Analytics Masterclass (worth £195) which you can attend anytime in your first year.
CIM costs are a yearly membership fee of £65 and £150 per assessment (3 in total; so £450 in total). There is also an additional online proctored exam fee (£45) for the Applied Marketing Assessment. You should allocate a £40-50 spend on books for each module. If you are self-financing, there may also be payment options open to you. If you have been made redundant, then you may be eligible for ReAct funding of up to £1500 of the cost of your course (you would need to pay for the CIM Assessment and membership fees). How long will it take to study?
Each module takes 2 days of class time to complete; there are 3 modules in total. Please note that if the course is delivered virtually it will be delivered over three day. We offer 3/4 cohorts per year.The Total Qualification Time (TQT) per module is 170 hours. Notional learning time is the amount of time expected to take, on average, to complete the learning outcomes of a module to the standard defined by the assessment criteria. This includes:

- Practical and work-based learning – Assessment preparation time
- Assessment time
- Supported self-study time
