The CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing is aimed at those who are in a support-level marketing role and does not require any previous experience or knowledge of marketing. Its aim is to equip students with the skills, knowledge and understanding to professionally in a support-level marketing role. This is done through meaningful assessments which reflect the demands of the modern industry.
This Foundation Certificate comprises of 2 modules:

Each module can be achieved as a distinct, self-contained award which can be built up to attain the full foundation certificate.
Who is the CIM Foundation Certificate aimed at?
The CIM Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing is aimed at those either in a job that already involves marketing or those who wish to find out about marketing with the intention of starting out on a marketing career.
It is not necessary to have any previous experience or knowledge of marketing and you can choose to study in a way that suits your requirements and availability. We do, however, ask that if English is not your first language, you provide us with evidence that you have achieved – within the past two years – either an IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass being at 6.0 or above) or the Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English at grade B or above. We are prepared to consider other equivalent alternatives.
How is the CIM course assessed?
A combination of assessment methodologies are used for the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing. Assessment methods used within the qualification are employer driven, practitioner-based, relevant and appropriate for business needs.
In addition, assessments for all qualifications comply with regulatory requirements, are fit for purpose, fair, valid, reliable and manageable to ensure confidence in the standard of learn achievement.
Marketing Principles – external assessment: an online examination comprising multiple-choice question
Digital Fundamentals – external assessment: assignment based on a theme and an organisation of choice.

How much do the qualifications cost?
Our qualifications and bite-size awards represent a sound investment in your future and your employer may therefore be willing to sponsor you.
The cost of the Foundation Certificate is £990 +VAT. The CIM costs are £110 per assessment (2 in total) and a yearly membership fee of £65. Please note there is an online proctoring fee of £45 during the pandemic. You should allocate a £40-50 spend on books.
If you are self-financing, there may be payment options open to you. This will allow you to spread the cost of the course over a period of a few months. Please speak to our CIM co-ordinator on 02920 005778 regarding this.

If you have been made redundant, then you may be eligible for ReAct funding of up to £1500 of the cost of your course (you would need to pay for the CIM Assessment and membership fees). We accept ReAct beneficiaries and have dealt with students through the ReAct scheme for many years. Find out more about ReAct from the Careers Wales website.
How long will it take to study?
- The Total Qualification Time (TQT) per module is 120 hours.
- TQT include guided learning hours, practical and work-based learning, assessment preparation time, assessment time and supported self-study time.
There are three assessment sessions per year within the new CIM qualification.
