Humans are the most adaptable creature on earth, not least according to humans! A big part of our adaptability rests on our ability to create tools for “doing more with less”, which is a good definition of technology. (Forbes)
So, you’ve probably all heard about ChatGPT by now. Don’t worry if you haven’t there’s an explanation below. I thought I’d do a quick Q&A between me and, uh, ChatGPT to find out what it may be capable of. Hopwever, as a quick overview I enter questions into a “chatbot” and it responds (having seached books, articles and websites for answers). I haven’t edited any responses and the questions I pose are only just scratching the surface of what is possible but, I believe, the possibilities are endless.Â
[To offer clarity as to my words  and those of ChatGPT, I have put the words of ChatGPT in bold. This may also show how easy it might be for a content marketer to hoodwink you into believing that the content was their own work!]

What is ChatGPT?
In simple terms, what is chatgpt and how does it work?
ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI. It uses deep learning techniques to generate human-like text. The model is trained on a dataset of conversational text and is able to generate responses to text prompts given to it. It works by predicting the next word in a sentence, based on the patterns it has learned from the training data. This allows it to generate coherent and coherent-sounding text when given a prompt. It utilize the transformer network architecture pre-trained on a massive amount of conversational data. It could be fine-tuned on various task by providing task specific data.

Where can I find appropriate images for this article?
I’m trying to find a free image on unsplash that would suit the above responses. Any ideas?
I apologize, as a text-based AI, I don’t have direct access to Unsplash or other image resources. However I can give you some general suggestions on the type of images that might be suitable for the above responses:
- For SEO: An image of a person working on a computer and looking at a monitor with keywords or search metrics on the screen could be appropriate.
- For Content Marketing: An image of a person holding a laptop or tablet and working on writing content could be suitable.
- For Social media: An image of a person holding a smartphone and scrolling through social media could be appropriate.
- For Email Marketing: An image of a person working on a laptop and managing their email inbox, or an image of an open email inbox could be appropriate.
As you can see, the idea is to depict people actively working or engaging with technology in some way, these could be illustrations or photographs, it could be a close-up shot of a person’s face or a more general, wider shot of an office or workspace. You could also play around with a mix of those ideas to better match your needs.
Keep in mind that Unsplash has a search functionality that allows you to look for images

How about testing/teaching me?
Can you test my knowledge of Spanish verbs? You ask a question and I’ll answer.
Sure, I can test your knowledge of Spanish verbs. Here is a sample question:
¿Cómo se conjuga el verbo “comer” en el tiempo presente de indicativo?
Como, comes, come, comemos comeÃs, comen
That’s correct! The conjugation of the verb “comer” in the present indicative tense is:
Yo como (I eat)
Tú comes (You eat – informal singular)
Él/ella/usted come (He/she/you(formal) eats)
Nosotros comemos (We eat)
Vosotros coméis (You all eat – informal singular)
Ellos/ellas/ustedes comen (They/you all eat)
You have a good understanding of Spanish verb conjugation in the present indicative tense! Keep practicing and you will continue to improve your skills.
Conclusion
This is, as Dave Chaffey quite rightly, points out a Disruptor Technology whose impact will be felt across many industries and disciplines. However, before getting carried away by this “new technology” let’s not forget that AI is in use in products we have used for a very long time – Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri, Google Assistant, Grammarly and Duolingo to name but a few. But this, somehow, feels different – a game changer.
I’ve only really given it a test spin for a few days but my head is already spinning with the possibilities. Is it a substitute for writers, content marketers, SEO folk and the like? No. Can it complement or support the activities of people in a wide range of industries? Yes, I would definitely say so.
I would certainly look at using it for researching content ideas, for coming up with page title suggestions, with helping me come up with the structure of blog articles, and for many other uses. For creating content and publishing it directly? No.
Aside from content marketers using this technology to bloat out websites with content that lacks personality or doesn’t have the right tone, I was quite taken aback by the ability to type in a WJEC A Level History paper from 2019 and find it came back with a perfectly acceptable overview from which you could develop an answer! It also works well for checking punctuation and grammar.
Let’s hope that people will use it in the “correct way” and not just as a tool to cheat exams, create unnecessary content on websites and/or to pass off content as their own. [Disclaimer: all the “answers” were created by ChatGPT and were not edited by myself].
