How to add links to your LinkedIn Photos
Here is a great feature for you too get your teeth in to. On Instagram you are probably aware that you are able to add clickable links/stickers/music to your Instagram updates but did you know that you can now add clickable links and other elements within LinkedIn? It’s quite a simple, yet effective, way to direct your followers to external content that you think might be of interest to them.
Just to clarify, you can add URL’s, text, stickers and tags to images in addition to be able to crop, adjust and add filters to your LinkedIn images. Now, you may well be asking whether links affect your reach/engagement but according to Judi Fox a LinkedIn expert, who got a statement from LinkedIn, posts are not downgraded because of links. I suppose the devil is in the detail (or the testing) and you find may find differently.
Step 1: Prepare your image (or video)
One thing to understand before we go any further is that the ability to add links to your images (currently) only resides on your mobile app. This is interesting as it may reflect LinkedIn’s way of trying to get us to create more unique, “natural” media on the fly. At an event? Take a picture or video. Something interesting happening on the shop floor? Get your iPhone ready. Going to a conference? You get the idea by now.
Obviously, you can either create the image as it happens on your mobile, you can prepare it on your desktop using something like Canva or Premiere Pro (for video) or you can create/prepare your image/video on your mobile phone using a plethora of apps.

Step 2: Open up your LinkedIn app
Now, head over to the LinkedIn app on your mobile phone and click “➕ Post” in the menu on the bottom. The next thing to do is to either select one photo or one image. It looks like you can’t add more than one image or video AND be able to use the URL, text, crop, tag or stickers features.
Step 3: Select the URL/Text/Sticker option
Select the URL option, enter the URL and then add the text that you want. You are now ready to post. In the example below I have added a text hadline and, like Instagram, dragged the URL: and headline to where I want. The headline option gives you the opportunity to select from three style and choose from (minimal) colour options.
