Over the last year I have definitely increased the amount of podcasts that I have listened to. I’m not sure if this is as a result of the pandemic or the fact that I’ve discovered content which I like through podcasts.
For those who are new to podcasting let me tell you that it’s not a new phenomenon but has been around for a very long time. A quick search on this website has thrown up a few articles which I wrote many years ago. The oldest dates back to 2005 on the Huge Growth Projected in Podcasting, another in that year talked Podcasting From the Heart of the Catholic Church and even Tony Blair gets a mention in 2006 when I wrote about Tony Blair – Tony Blair Podcast – the First by British Prime Minister.
A quick search on Google Trends (Podcast + Worldwide) indicates that even the height of popularity for podcasts was around 2004-2006, there was definitely an upward curve in the early part of the pandemic.
Anyway, the main thrust of this article was not to give you a potted history of podcasting but to introduce you to some podcasts that you may want to listen to. They are quite varied and subjects range from business, entrepreneurship and leadership to psychology, sociology and history and MUCH more. BUT I think they all have something in common: the majority of them all have some lessons which you can apply to business (and life).
Note: two (Malcolm Gladwell and Guy Kawasaki) include trailers and the other two are the latest podcasts.
