Digital Marketing Will See Huge Growth In 2010

For the past 6 years I have been delivering Internet Marketing training, or Digital Marketing Training, as it is now called. For the early years it was seen as something that it would be nice to add to a company’s marketing arsenal. Recently, things have changed and digital marketing is now regard by many companies as the critical element in a company’s marketing strategy. Money has moved, at an increasing pace, from print, TV and radio to SEO, PPC and email. With this change of focus we have also seen a rise in the number of adverts for positions like Social Media, Community or Social Networks managers.

Marketing Tom itself has seen a huge increase in the number of candidates wanting to attend and complete its digital marketing courses. In the past individuals wanted to gain the knowledge and, in some cases, didn’t worry too much about completing their assignments. Today, possibly due to the recession, everyone attends and completes the digital marketing qualification.

The CIM rolled out, through the CAM Foundation, its first Diploma in Digital Marketing in June of this year with a view to creating an industry-recognised qualification that would give students the edge over their marketing peers. Marketing Tom was chosen as one of the 5 pilot centres to offer this qualification and we have already submitted the first reports to the CIM. The Diploma has three elements: Digital Marketing Planning Award, Digital Marketing Essentials Award and the Consumer and Marketing Behaviour Award. We are convinced, and have already start to see, companies requiring that their employees have a recognised digital marketing qualification and this trend will only increase through the coming year.

So, the bottom line is that if you want to get ahead in marketing in 2010, you’ll need to get to grips with the digital marketing tools like Facebook, YouTube, SEO, PPC, email, Twitter and much more.
